Dyer County boys take first; Trojans, Lady Trojans, Lady Choctaws claim second

With four teams meeting at the Farms on Tuesday afternoon, a pair of local schools took home high finishes on the golf course in the four-way match between Dyer County, Dyersburg, Crockett County and Peabody.
The Dyer County boys took first-place honors,
outshooting second-place Dyersburg by four strokes on the day.
Beau Thurman was the top medalist with a 35
on the day while Jarrett Harrison came off the course with a 39 as the second
medalist. Dalton Muncrief added a 40 while Seth LaRue shot a 41 to round out
the Dyer County scoring for a combined mark of 155.
Dyersburg was led by John David Morris, who
tied with Thurman as the top medalist. Ryan Wesson shot a 40 while Jayce
Ellerbrook and Brett Horner had matching 42s to account for the 159 score by
the Trojans.
In girls’ action, Crockett County took
first place, narrowly edging out the Lady Choctaws and Lady Trojans, who were
one shot off the Lady Cavaliers pace of 101.
Dyersburg’s Stella Madden led the way for
the Lady Trojans, finishing second overall with a 46. Cally Cook came off the
course with a 56 to earn the black and gold a tie for second place.
Dyer County was led by Lilly Flagg, who
shot a 50 on the day while Josie Ferguson scored a 52.
Both Dyersburg and Dyer County are set to
return to the course on Monday, Sept. 15 at The Farms when Dyer County hosts
the Choctaw Classic. The scheduled start time is set for 8:30 a.m.
