Dyer County falls to South Gibson in region action

Dyer County dropped its second game in a row on Friday
night, falling to South Gibson in Medina, 35-0.
The Hornets took a 14-0 lead after one quarter following
touchdowns by Jaden Reed (63-yard run) and Tashon Jeter (55-yard run).
South Gibson added to the lead in the second quarter as
Matthew Austin scored on a 14-yard run to help the Hornets to a 21-0 halftime
lead.
Jeter got on the board again in the third quarter, scoring
on a 26-yard run just 55 seconds into the second half. The extra point extended
the Hornet lead to 28-0.
South Gibson tacked on another score in the fourth quarter
with a two-yard run by Reed. The extra point extended the Hornet advantage to 35
points and put the mercy rule into play.
South Gibson gained 342 yards on the day, all on the ground
with Reed leading the way with 19 carries for 165 yards and two scores. Jeter added
five carries for 144 yards and two scores in the win.
Dyer County was led by KeAnthony Barbee with 11 carries for
84 yards. Landon Daniels was 10 of 20 for 74 yards through the air.
The Choctaws (4-2, 2-2) will look to get back on the winning
track on Friday when Dyer County travels to Henderson to take on Chester County
at 7 p.m.
