The Dyer County Middle School Lady Choctaws hosted Munford on Monday to open the week and fell to the Lady Cougars 3-1 despite a late rally by the orange and white.

Munford’s first goal came in the third minute but Dyer County goalkeeper Mallory Warren kept the game at a goal difference after a save on a Lady Cougar penalty kick moments later.

The visitors were able to add to their lead late in the first half on a second goal via a rebound of the initial shot to take a 2-0 lead into the half.

The Lady Cougars tacked on another goal in the 32nd minute to extend their lead to three goals.

Dyer County was able to rally late with multiple chances, including a goal from Addisyn Trout in the 49th minute to cut the Munford lead to two.

That was as close as the Lady Choctaws were able to get as Munford escaped with the win.

Dyer County returns to action on Thursday when the Lady Choctaws travel to Trenton at 6 p.m.
