Dyer County pulls away, beats Haywood

Though the Lady Tomcats got on the board first, Dyer County responded with a trio of first-half goals in response to a second Haywood goal then pulled away in the second half to take a 5-2 win on Tuesday in the Lady Choctaws home opener.

Trailing 1-0 after an early Haywood goal, Dyer County got goals from Tayler Bopp and Peyton Murphy to take a 2-1 lead.

The Lady Tomcats tied it later in the half. The Lady Choctaws made sure the score didn’t stay knotted up long as Ava Pearson scored late in the half to give Dyer County a 3-2 halftime lead.

The Lady Choctaws began to pull away in the second half with a goal from senior Lennon Brooks. Brooks then added a goal on a penalty kick to secure the three-goal win.

Dyer County returns to action on Monday, Sept. 15 when the Lady Choctaws travel to St. Augustine at 6 p.m.
