Rebels travel to Covington to face ranked Chargers

In the middle of a string of games against the traditional top three teams in Region 7-3A, Obion County Central makes the trip down to Covington on Friday night to take on the Chargers in the second game of this tough stretch of games.

Coming out of last week’s loss to Westview, Obion County Central Head Coach Clayton Morris talked about what he wanted his team to take away from their first loss of the 2025 season.

“I want to see us continue to fight and trust the process,” Morris explained. “It’s a long season.”

Offensively, Morris said the Chargers excel with their ability to attack any gap on the field regardless of formation as well as their physicality in the offensive line.

To counter this, Morris explained the Central defense as a whole will need to be disciplined and trust their assignments.

On the other side of the ball, Covington’s defensive line is very active and the linebackers are very physical.

“It’s going to be a fight,” the Central head coach explained.

A big part of the Rebels success will be on the shoulders of their sophomore quarterback Tucker Phelon, who Morris said needs to have the best game of his career against the Chargers.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Covington.
