Though it took the goals a while to come, once they did, there was plenty to go around as the Lady Trojans punched their ticket to the TSSAA Class AA State Tournament for the fifth time in six years with a 4-0 win over Brighton Saturday evening at J.C. Sawyers Stadium.

Dyersburg had multiple chances on goal during the first half and played on the Bright side of midfield for much of the first half of the TSSAA Class AA State Sectional Match. The shots just didn’t find the net as Brighton was able to keep the black and gold off the board.

On the other side of midfield, the Dyersburg defense limited the Lady Cardinals chances to the point of starvation as DHS goalkeeper Grace Ann Webb faced only minimal shots in the first half.

The game went to halftime with the score tied at 0-0.

The scoring drought continued into the second half with Dyersburg again spending the majority of time on the Brighton side of midfield. But the Lady Trojan shots didn’t fall until late.

And, when they did, they came in a cluster as a trio of Haddy Manneh goals and another from Juli Ann Cundiff accounted for the Dyersburg scoring as the Lady Trojans took the Class AA Sectional Match and the berth in the TSSAA Class AA State Tournament which comes with the win.

The three goals gives Manneh 55 for the season.

The Lady Trojans will face Station Camp, who defeated Sycamore 9-0 in sectional action, on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the TSSAA Class AA Quarterfinals at Boyd Buchanon in Chattanooga.
