For the first time since 2022, the District 13AA Tournament
Championship Flag for Girls Soccer will fly high above Dyersburg High School as
the Lady Trojans defeated South Gibson in the district tournament title game on
Thursday night at J.C. Sawyers Stadium, 2-0, to win the district for the first
time in three seasons.
Dyersburg was able to get on the board early as Haddy Manneh
picked up the first goal of the game in the first ten minutes to give the Lady Trojans
a 1-0 lead.
With the Lady Trojan defense playing well, Dyersburg was
able to hold the one-goal lead until the half.
The black and gold doubled its lead early in the second half as Manneh picked up her second goal of the game during the first eight minutes of the half.
At the 48-minute mark of action, sophomore sensation Manneh
dropped back to the defense to add to the protection of the lead. Along with
the rest of the defenders, Dyersburg was able to keep a pesky South Gibson team at
bay. Multiple saves by Grace Ann Webb helped preserve the lead and secure the
district championship for the Lady Trojans.
Dyersburg will host Haywood on Tuesday, October 21 at J.C.
Sawyers Stadium in the Region 7AA Semifinals.
