The Falcons will look to keep some valuable momentum going as Lake County will try to build on a signature win in their last game as the green and gold host Humboldt this Friday night at Tiptonville.

Lake County got off to a two-touchdown lead at halftime against then-undefeated South Fulton last week on the Red Devils’ home field. After South Fulton rallied to take the lead during the fourth quarter, the Falcons battled back and retook the lead about halfway through the last frame and held on to upset the Red Devils.

“Man for what this team has been through this year, I am incredibly proud of them,” Lake County Head Coach Hunter Short said. “It would’ve been very easy for, when adversity hit, for them to say oh well we tried but they fought until the very end.

“I can’t say enough of how proud I am to be their coach.”

This week Lake County welcomes Humboldt to Tiptonville for another Region 7-A battle.

As with any team, there are spots in the Viking lineup which give Short and the Falcons some concerns.

“They are super athletic at the skill spots,” Short explained. “They have several kids that standout at wide receiver and running back.”

The Lake County coach said the Lake County defensive backs will have to play well for the Falcons to be successful on Friday night.

On the other side of the ball, the Vikings have a lot of athleticism in the skill positions as well.

“Really the same area of just being super athletic and flying around to the ball,” Short added.

Short pointed to the Falcon front line as needing to have a big game for the team to be successful.

“Offensive line as always,” the Lake County head coach said. “They have continually gotten better all year and we are gonna need a big performance from them.”

Friday night is the final regular-season home game for the Falcons which means it will also be Senior Night at Lake County High School. Those festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday night in Tiptonville.
