A pair of wins in three games on Thursday in Brentwood have Northview’s volleyball team two wins away from a second straight Class A State Championship with bracket play tipping off on Friday afternoon.

Northview got their journey through the pool play portion of the state tournament off to a strong start as the Lady Choctaws handed Soddy Daisy a two-set defeat in the first game of the day. After taking the first set 25-14, Northview clinched its first win of the day with a 25-13 win in set two.

The Lady Choctaws, though, suffered a setback in the second game of the day as Northview fell in straight sets to Charlotte Middle. Both sets were competitive as the Lady Choctaws stayed on Charlotte’s heels before falling 25-22 in both frames.

Northview, needing a win in the third match of the day to qualify for the winner’s bracket, the Lady Choctaws responded with their backs against the wall to win in three sets. Northview took the first set 25-20 but fell 25-22 in the second set. The third and deciding set belonged to the Lady Choctaws, who won 15-5 to claim the match and advance to the state championship bracket.

Northview will play West Greene in a rematch of the 2024 TMSAA Class A State Championship Game. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. on Friday at Brentwood Middle School. The winner will face the winner of the second semifinal game between Charlotte and Bellevue. The TSSAA Division III Class A State Championship Game will be played on Friday at 4 p.m. at Brentwood High School in the main gymnasium.
