Northview Volleyball heads to state in hopes of repeat

The quest for a second straight TSSAA Division III Class A State Championship is entering its final stretch for the Northview volleyball team as the Choctaws headed to Brentwood on Wednesday afternoon.


The Class A bracket tips off on Thursday around lunch. Northview opens defense of their crown as they begin pool play in Pool B at 11:20 a.m. The Choctaws will take on Wartburg Central in the first game of three pool play matchups in the Brentwood High School main gymnasium.

Northview will return to the court a second time on Thursday when the Choctaws face Charlotte Middle at 2 p.m. in the Brentwood High School auxiliary gymnasium.

Northview rounds out the first day of action at 6 p.m. when the Choctaws take on Soddy Daisy Middle in the Brentwood High School main gymnasium.

The goal in pool play is to be one of the top two teams in the pool when the schedule is completed. The top two advance to the winners bracket to play for a shot at the state championship.

The Pool A winner will take on the Pool B runner-up in the first semifinal at Brentwood Middle School at 1 p.m. on Friday. The second semifinal will be between the Pool B winner and the Pool A runner-up at 1 p.m. in the Brentwood High School main gymnasium.

The winners of those two matches will meet in the TSSAA Division III Class A State Championship Game at 4 p.m. in the Brentwood High School main gymnasium.
