The Northview Lady Choctaw volleyball team, the defending Class A State Champions, will play for the right to defend their championship at the TSSAA Division III State Tournament as the orange and white defeated rival Three Oaks on Tuesday evening at Three Oaks to win the District 13A Championship in straight sets.

Northview defeated Crestview in straight sets in the first semifinal of the night.

In the second semifinal of the night, Three Oaks took the first set 25-20 from Paris Inman then fell to the Lady Bulldogs 25-19 in the second set. The Lady Choctaws from Upper Finley Road then held off Iman to take the third and deciding set 15-12.

The first set of the championship match stayed close through the first 19 points before Northview scored four straight to generate some breathing room. Three Oaks rallied to tie the game at 14-14 then take a one-point lead. But, Northview tied the game moments later then outscored Three Oaks 10-1 after that to take the first set 25-16.

The second set was all Northview as the Lady Choctaws from Newbern went on a 9-1 run following an early tie. From there, Northview cruised to the win in the second set by a 25-8 score to take the district championship.

Northview moves on to host Jackson Parkway in the Sectional Tournament on Thursday for a right to play in the state tournament. Tipoff is at 6 p.m. in Newbern.
