Dyersburg tops Houston at Bartlett Classic

The Lady Trojans continued their strong play during their stay at the Bartlett Classic, defeating Houston 53-37 on Tuesday evening in Bartlett.

Dyersburg jumped out to a double-digit lead, led by a trio of buckets from Aerie Quinn as well as two three-pointers from Zya Currie. The Lady Trojans took a 19-8 lead after the first quarter.

While the Dyersburg defense held the Lady Mustangs to eight points again in the second frame, the Lady Trojans got a jumper and a trey from Kathleen Harrell as well as a three-pointer and two free throws by Klaya Currie to take a 34-16 lead at the half.

Though the Lady Trojans were held to just ten points – including six free throws from Chelby Jordan, Dyersburg’s defense didn’t let the Lady Mustangs get too close, holding them to 15 to take a 44-31 lead into the final frame.

From there, the Lady Trojans outscored Houston 9-6 to seal the win.

Jordan led the way with 16 points while Kay Kay Strayhorn tossed in 12 in the win.

Dyersburg returns to action when the Lady Trojans travel to Jackson to take part in the Hoopfest on Friday and Saturday.
