Dyersburg closes out Franks Shootout with big win

Following a big bounce-back win over Southwind on Saturday in the Franks Shootout at White County, Dyersburg’s girls closed out their stay in the bracket with a 71-29 win over Tri Cities on Monday.

The Dyersburg defense held Tri-Cities to just five points in the opening quarter. Meanwhile, Lady Trojans Kathleen Harrell scored ten and teammate Chelby Jordan added eight to help the black and gold take a 26-5 lead after one quarter.

Dyersburg got seven from Jordan and four by Harrell to extend its lead to 43-12 at the break.

The Lady Trojans got a balanced scoring effort in the third quarter to push their lead to 55-21 heading into the fourth quarter.

Aerie Quinn tossed in nine to lead the way in the fourth quarter for Dyersburg as the Lady Trojans cruised to the victory.

Jordan led the way for Dyersburg with 22 points while Quinn added 17. Harrell scored 14 in the win for the Lady Trojans.

Dyersburg also defeated Southwind on Saturday in the consolation bracket, 62-23.

The Lady Trojans return to action on Monday, December 29, as they play twice in the second day of the Lady Trojan Christmas Tournament in the Terry Glover Gymnasium. Dyersburg will take on the loser of the Saturday’s first-round game between University High School and South Fulton at 4:30 p.m. Later in the evening, the Lady Trojans will take on the winner of that Saturday game at 7:30 p.m.
