Lady Trojans cruise in second half to tournament title

The Dyersburg girls wrapped up the Lady Trojan Christmas Tournament as well as the 2025 portion of their schedule, taking the tournament title with a 69-43 win over Jackson Christian School in the tournament championship game on Tuesday night in the Terry Glover Gymnasium.


Dyersburg dominated the opening quarter for much of the team, leading by over 15 points thanks to eight points from Chelby Jordan and six points each by Aerie Quinn and KayKay Strayhorn. The Lady Eagles were able to cut it to 24-10 by the end of the frame.

Jackson Christian cut further into the Lady Trojan lead early in the second quarter, getting as close as two possessions. But, Dyersburg got a couple big three-pointers from Quinn to get back ahead of the pace and take a 41-23 lead into the break.

The Lady Trojans’ third quarter was highlighted by a pair of three-pointers from Strayhorn as Dyersburg took a commanding 56-31 lead into the final frame.

Dyersburg then held off the Lady Eagles to take the tournament championship.

Quinn led the way for the Lady Trojans with 19 points while Quinn and Strayhorn each added 14 in the win.

Zya Currie, Aerie Quinn, and Kay Kay Strayhorn were named to the Lady Trojan Christmas Tournament All-Tournament Team with Chelby Jordan taking home Tournament Most Valuable Player honors.


Quinn, Strayhorn, and Zya Currie took home All-Tournament Team honors with Jordan claiming the Tournament Most Valuable Player Award.

Dyersburg girls 76, Bradford 24

Earlier in the day, the Lady Trojans picked up a big win over the Lady Red Devils in the first of their two games on the final day of the tournament.

Led by five points from Aerie Quinn in the opening quarter, the Lady Trojans led 18-5 after one frame.

Dyersburg began to pull away in the second quarter. Seven points from Brie Parr and six more from Quinn helped the Lady Trojans take a 44-13 lead at the half.

Quinn tacked on eight more points in the third quarter as Dyersburg pushed its lead to 71-18 heading into the final frame.

From there, Dyersburg cruised to the win.

Quinn led all scorers with 19 points in the win.

Dyersburg returns to action on Saturday when the Lady Trojans host Ripley at 6 p.m.
