A pair of early long goals off the boot of Trojan senior Elian Gonzalez set the tone for the night as Dyersburg got a hat trick from their senior scorer on the way to a 4-0 win over Dyer County on Tuesday night in soccer action at J.C. Sawyers Stadium.

After both teams had more than one chance with close shots, it took a long-range attack from over 40 yards by Gonzalez to break the scoreless tie as the Trojans took a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute.

Both teams settled back into the defense, keeping the game at a one-goal differential for much of the rest of the half.

Until a second long shot by Gonzalez found the net in the final minute of the half to put Dyersburg’s lead to 2-0 heading into the half.

Dyer County was able to keep Dyersburg off the board for the first half of the second half while getting a couple near misses in the process.

Vega Leon added to the Trojan lead in the 68th minute with a goal in traffic then Gonzalez added his third goal of the game to seal the four-goal win.

Dyersburg returns to action on Thursday when the Trojans travel to Huntingdon while Dyer County makes the trip down Highway 51 to Covington.
