Dyer County names LaRue as new head girls coach

Dyer County High School has named DCHS basketball assistant coach Lyle LaRue as the new head coach of the Lady Choctaw basketball team. 

LaRue previously served as a head coach from 1998 through 2001. LaRue returned to Dyer County as an assistant coach in the fall of 2021. 

LaRue's head coach career also includes stops in Crockett County (2001-2004) and Obion County Central (2009-15). LaRue, who sports a high school head coaching record of 281-107, led both programs to state tournament appearances, including a Class AA runner-up finish with the Lady Rebels in 2012.

  Jason Peevyhouse Editor, JP Productions Sports Two local youth sports organizations will be working together later this year to bring Dyersburg three travel baseball tournaments with the first on the calendar for mid-August. The Dyersburg Activity Center and the Dyersburg Diamond Youth Baseball league will be working together to host three tournaments this fall with Grand Slam Baseball.
