Trailing by a goal early on Tuesday night in non-district girls’
soccer action, the Lady Trojans rallied with a trio of goals over the remainder
of the game to defeat Lakeland Prep 3-1 at J.C. Sawyers Stadium as DHS celebrated
Senior Night for the black and gold girls on the pitch.
Dyersburg gave up an early goal to the Lady Lions but the Lady Trojans had an answer. Haddy Manneh responded with a first-half goal to tie the game at 1-1 at the half.
Manneh also had a big hand in putting the Lady Trojans on
top on the scoreboard. Manneh put Dyersburg on the board again in the 54th
minute to put the black and gold on top 2-1.
The Lady Trojan defense and goalkeeper Grace Ann Webb kept
the Lady Lions off the board for the remainder of the game. Meanwhile,
Dyersburg freshman Za’Riyah Jackson sealed the win with a goal in the 75th
minute as the Lady Trojans took the victory.
Dyersburg returns to action on Thursday when the Lady Trojans
travel to Newbern to take on Dyer County in the District 13AA opener for both
teams. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
